Naturopathy is a system of health care which encourages and promotes the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms
Naturopathy has existed for thousands of years. It can be tracked down to ancient Shamantic, Indian and Chineese civilisations where the use of herbs and detoxification methods were used to treat disease and improve health. Around 400BC, the teaching of Hippocrates were rooted in the idea that nature is the healer of all disease.
Naturopathy aims to enhance the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms. It is a complete health system concerned with identifying the root cause of disease and treating the person holistically. Treatments that work against the body’s own natural processes are avoided.
A Naturopath is like the GP of the natural health world and is grounded in medical conditions and pharmaceutical medications so as to be able to work in tandem with an orthodox medical consultant if necessary. Treatments involve a combination of therapies including: herbal medicines, tissue salts, detoxification techniques, flower remedies, diet and lifestyle changes.
“Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease”
